Moving Still

3′ x 5′ Oil on canvas

“Moving Still” is an evocative still life rendered from direct observation, capturing the paradox of perpetual motion within a moment of stillness. Drawing upon personal travel experiences, I composed a collection of objects gathered throughout my journeys —each item carrying its own quiet narrative. Central to the composition is a greyhound-like dog, whom I found during my travels in Africa. Her whimsical appearance has often been likened to that of a fairy-tale creature. With this in mind, the setting takes on an enchanted, woodland quality—imbuing the work with a sense of wonder and subtle fantasy.

“Moving Still” is not only a celebration of travel and memory, but also an ode to the imaginative spirit that transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary.
